Megan & John | Wedding Weekend at Villa Cimbrone, Ravello

Years before they were engaged, Megan and John and their families took a trip to the Amalfi Coast and fell in love with Villa Cimbrone in Ravello. When they started planning with us, they knew they wanted a destination wedding, but they weren't sure about committing to Italy at first, since it would likely mean a smaller guest list. So we looked at Napa. Nothing could compare to their memories of Ravello, and we began planning at Villa Cimbrone. In the end, 72 guests made the trip. A destination wedding in Italy means planning more than one event day, so we organized a welcome party at Trattoria Da Lorenzo in the neighboring village of Scala. You can see Scala from Ravello, but the mountains between them mean guests need transportation, which we arranged both ways. Guests were greeted by a lively local band and enjoyed spritzes on the grass outside the restaurant, where we had set up a live mozzarella-making station. Inside, two long tables ran the length of the terrace with a custom graphic linen and a fittingly Italian tablescape of fresh tomatoes and herbs, bright florals, and citrus. Place cards were mini tambourines and the menu cards were printed as tins of anchovies. The band played, guests were on their feet dancing and clapping, and dinner was a multi-course spread from the team at Da Lorenzo. For the wedding day we leaned into a soft, romantic feel: a palette of whites and pinks with a slightly bolder pop for the reception. The bridesmaids wore butter yellow, the bride wore a lace gown, and the groom wore a tux. The ceremony took place in the gardens, and guests moved to the Terrace of Infinity for cocktail hour overlooking the Amalfi Coast. Dinner and toasts followed in the crypt over a four-course meal. While guests were at dinner, we flipped the gardens for dancing and a traditional Italian cake moment with an elaborate dessert display, and everyone danced the night away under the stars.
